Southern Cranes & Access is a family run business started by Mick Sadler. Mick has been involved in the crane industry since 1970; he has been running crane companies since 1981 when he was a director of "Gamble & Sadler". Southern Crane Services started trading in July 1997, which developed in to Southern Cranes & Access.

Southern Cranes and Access has one of the largest and most versatile fleets of access machines and cranes in the south-east. The company focuses on customer service, reliability and safety. Their large fleet of machines means the company can be flexible in its approach to customers' needs; Southern Cranes aims to provide customers the most efficient service possible in every case.

Southern Cranes maintains many accreditations. These allow the company to work for major clients such as Network Rail and electric companies.

June 1981
Mick Sadler started "Gamble & Sadler Crane Hire Ltd" crane hire.
1995
"Gamble & Sadler" was sold as a going concern to "Hewden Stuart Ltd". Mick continued as director for them.
July 1997
"Southern Contract Lifting Ltd" began operations.
November 1997
"Southern Crane Services Ltd" began operations.
1999
Southern Cranes opened a depot in Southwater, Horsham.
2000
Southern Cranes opened depot in Hailsham
July 2003
Southern Cranes changed its name to "Southern Cranes and Access Ltd".
2003
Southern Cranes Opened a depot in Croydon.
January 2009
Southern Cranes moved in to new office in Pulborough.
2009
Southern Cranes opened a depot in Heathrow.
2009
Southern Cranes opened a depot in Camberley.
May 2010
Southern Cranes opened a depot in Reading.
December 2012
Southern Cranes opened a depot in Horsham.
June 2013
"Southern Cranes & Access" and "Southern Contract Lifting" were merged in to one company.
March 2014
Southern Cranes moved its head office to the new depot in Slinfold.
May 2016
Southern Cranes moved its head office to the new depot in Southwater.
