A massive and very dramatic rescue lasting seven days to recover a lorry after it fell through a bridge in Funtley near Fareham was carried out by the Terex Explorer 5600. During the rescue, 90 homes and business had power restricted to their premises for five hours whilst specialist and a new crane worked closely to overhead high voltage power cables.

A total of 50 people worked on safely recovering the lorry despite the rain and wind lashing down from the early hours of the morning.

The Explorer 5600, laden with 40 tonnes of ballast, swung its boom across the River Meon 50 foot in the air with heavy duty strops in attempt to free the trapped 17 tonne lorry. Later that evening the lorry was driven away on the back of a low loader to be checked for internal damage and repairs.
